The social loss of such an act is significant as it denies the employees a chance to grow as per their requirement, and also can be blamed to have wasted their time for not allowing them to leave or participate in the company’s future expansion and in making important expansion and disposition decisions. The impact is heavy when considered individually, as many employees who had dreamt of a better future with Motorola did not even get close to their desires indicating big failure of connect between the employer and the employees. The firm did not accept the requirement for change, and kept believing that the product will remain the same and that they will be able to control the demand and not otherwise. It so happened that with rivals moving up the ladder with innovation and creative products and offerings, the market changed and started to demand the same from Motorola, which was stuck in its old belief of being able to control the market and the customer demand.

More so, it did not even try to attempt to change when it was really required and when it realised its time, the time had really run off and it had almost lost the customer confidence that it once boasted about. It registered a big loss of $0.15 million and this was due to its unwillingness to move up the product innovation. In 2008, it suffered a major loss of $13.11 million when it decided to change and adopt new measures of accommodating customer preferences and making new products available for them (Motorola Annual Report 2010, 2011), but no avail in 2010 it had to stop operations, as it did not make sense to continue operating in a loss making environment and keep putting treasury funds in to expansion and getting no profit at all. This made the company give up its aspirations of becoming a truly global player.
