This was how the Hong Kong 1966 riots were caused and that was almost like a watershed which makes a big change in Hong Kong policies.
In this thesis, there will be attempts made to answer three important questions. The first is who were the group of people supporting Elsie Elliott. Second, it will be about the political position of the people during the time and the significance. Last, remodeling Elsie Elliott’s political thinking and analyze her influence to Hong Kong society. For my research, I would like to use three decades to divide the timeline. The first part is from 1960 to 1970, this study is research of her political and ideological background, and why the reason was her leading social movements. There are many newspapers that reported about Elsie Elliott’s political activities during 1960s to 1990s. Not only use one or two newspapers to make a comparison, but also more than three for objectivity, both Hong Kong and United Kingdom’s print media for this issue.
