The catering business of China has strong roots in UK since the years of 1950s and mainly this setting had been established by “chop suey houses” (Kirby, 2003). However, since then, the outlook of this industry has ended up changing in a significant manner and hence, the scope of this research lies in assessing these trends of the industry to identify key opportunities and risks that the Chinese business should consider for being successful in UK. The catering business of China can be considered as the backbone for community of China in UK. Following are the key objectives of this research:Identifying the key opportunities and risks for Chinese catering business in UK.Drafting key approaches and strategies for Chinese catering business to exploit these opportunities and deal with these risks in the market of UK .In the current era, the catering business of China is an integral element of the tourist and catering industries of Britain. The key estimation is that there are approximately 17,500 catering outlets of China in the UK, out of which one- third are restaurants while the rest are takeaways.

Chinese catering in UK has a yearly turnover of approximately 5 billion dollars while it employs 100,000 direct workers. Since the years of 1980s, Chinese catering in UK has been experiencing a continuous shortage of labour as children ended up leaving their families for persuading their careers. The catering industry of China has key reliability over migrant workers for filling their vacancies and supporting their growth. In this literature review, a detailed discussion will be done for focusing on the key theoretical aspects of the British Chinese catering businesses, while creating an understanding about the entire external environment of the industry. This will help in understanding the aspects of entrepreneurship to be considered in running the Chinese business in UK.
