Chinese art falls under the category of visual art, be it ancient or modern. Chinese art began with early stone age art during 10,000 BC where pottery and cultures were predominantly seen. However, after 1978, abstract art has been the basics for the contemporary art. The idea that abstract art can be a universal art form can be shared among a large number of cultural. It is important to understand the history of the art form and also to observe the beauty of the composition of art. Therefore, it is important to do the testing of the perception against different kinds of abstract art. The origin of the abstract art form in China can be traced down to the later 1970’s. The behaviour, psychology and the words of appreciation of the abstract beauty were founded in some of the art forms which included the Calligraphy, traditional Chinese art etc (David and Halle, 1991, 131). When there was the budding of the emancipation in China that started in around 1970s, the culture and the art circle which were in the mainland China saw the beginning of abstract art.

During the periods of Cultural Revolution, some of the artists from China such as Wu Dayu and Li Qingping continued to do the exploration of the abstract art in an underground manner. The practice of abstract art in China reached the peak value during those times when the new wave 85 had been thriving in each part of China. Under the retrospect of the same, a large number of artists who belonged to the avant grade went through the brief and an intriguing abstract period during this time. During those times, it was completely obvious that abstract art had been used as a tool for doing the rebellion against the stiffed art system. Also during that time, most of the creative works which had been done during the abstract art period had been strategic and it served as a means instead of reaching to an end (Clunas and Craig, 1997). During the process of exploration of abstract art, the noticeable contributions had been done by some of the artists such as Li Shan, Zhou Changjiang, Guan Ce, Wang Yigang, Tapies, Chen KeZhan, Zhou Changjiang, Fan Chang Tien, Gao Xingjian, Gu Gan etc.
