很多時候，人們學習一門新語言的時候，都是先看一些基本的材料，然後再去理解內容的要點，而不是去注意語言本身。這使得他們很難獲得複雜的材料。這種使學習者在非正式交際中使用一門語言，而不特別注意語言的準確性的策略，在後期成為學習者理解語言的障礙。在所有年級，當一個學習者開始在語言學校，非正式的溝通方法通常是用來促進他們使用語言，即使他們是用錯誤的。人們在社會、收音機、電視、電影等方面向他人學習語言的使用，一般被稱為“普通英語”(ella 209)。在這個列表中，互聯網現在排在首位。在這種情況下，一些主要的影響是互聯網的使用，尤其是社交媒體的使用。

The adult English learning gives opportunity to the students to master the oral as well as written English. The linguistics professionals and professors through integrated skills approach provide a focused course to the learners to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing ability. Such courses give opportunity to the learner to participate in various communicative activities, role plays, group discussions, while using authentic materials like print media and broadcast. However, since here we are talking about the adult English learning, the base of the language is already present in the learners mind. As per Rebecca (4), among various factors affecting the learning of the new language like, motivation, gender, cultural background, attitudes and beliefs, etc., age of the learner and level of language he is trying to learn is of paramount importance. The strategies used for beginner’s level of language build up are entirely different from that for the advance level for already influenced learners. For being a proficient in advance English it is necessary to pay attention to the language formation guideline, construct and grammar.
Many a times, people learning the new language go ahead with basic materials available to them and try to understand the gist of the content, rather than paying heed to the language itself. This makes it difficult for them to access complex material. The strategy used to make learners use a language in informal communication, without particular attention to the accuracy of the language leads to become a barrier in their understanding it in the advanced stages. At all the grade levels when a learner begins at a language school, informal communication approach is generally used to facilitate them to use language, even if they are doing it with erroneously. People learn from others in their society, radios, televisions movies, etc. the use of language which is generally referred as ‘common English’ (Scarcella 209). To this list now internet is ranking at the top. Some of the major influences in this case are the use of internet and especially use of social media.
