Under the Workplace health and safety management requirement, the operators of facilities where there are chances of any health and safety issue must ensure they have the necessary means to handle the issue. The WHS regulations mandate that the safety management system SMS must be created to manage these issues. The WHMS system will have additions in the form of specific responsibilities for the people in the company. The purpose of regulations is to ensure there is strict compliance, however regulations must only be treated as some form of basic rules to apply. It is necessary that the organization ensure that they continually improve on those regulations and go beyond meeting the set standards.
The second important requirement to be met is that the hardware company has to provide assurance that they are indeed conforming with the stated Work Health and Safety Policy. This conformance is achieved by following the AS/NZS 4801.
