Managerial decision making is highly routinized. In making decisions, managers follow well-established frameworks because they believe such frameworks and protocols are necessary for managerial decision making. Decision making is a tough process and according to Jackall (1988), managers try to take whatever help they could, and this is one reason that they make decisions that cater to many people’s acceptance for instance. Managerial decision making is indeed a critical process and the author has attempted to show how it actually works with real life case scenarios. The problem of managerial decision making is that most of the managers might look up and look around. The managers when confronted with a gut decision or a difficult decision will look up to their higher ups to make the decision or alternatively they will look at the peers and make their decision.

This means the decision taken is neither logical and at times might defeat the purpose that the organization is trying to achieve. The author has made use of case scenarios and used a narrative style when explaining the managerial decision making processes and concerns. The method is non-scientific and is more of a qualitative technique. The method works well because for each of the concept, the author has backed up with explanations by making use of a case study. For instance, when author talks about how no one wants to take a unique decision because they are always looking up to others, it is inevitable that they do so for fear of failure. The author makes use of a case scenario to present how this fear of failure comes to be. The read is interesting as it attempts to show how decision making of managers is influenced by a multitude of circumstances.
